49- Opportunity for creating video training content – with Lon Naylor

This episode is from a presentation by Lon Naylor of www.ScreenCastPro.com and www.SkillsInScreencastsAndPodcasts.com. Also known in the industry as “Mr. LearnCamtasia,” Lon describes how online video training courses and tutorials can be a great opportunity for New Media Professionals — especially for Podcasters.

Skills in Screencasts and Podcasts-2014This content was taken from a webinar in which Lon Naylor was one of the presenters and instructors. This was not a sales pitch — in fact, this was delivered as a benefit for the New Media Community, and it was intended for those who were considering creating online video tutorials and training courses, but did not know if it was for them or where to start.

As you will hear in this audio episode, we have taken and delivered to you about 20 minutes of Lon’s content, in which he explains and describes:

– the benefits of video online courses and tutorials;

– the tools which a New Media Professional or podcaster will need to create professional courses (of course, he focuses on the recorder and editor product from TechSmith called Camtasia Studio);

– the requirements for creating the content for video online courses — especially for monetizing them; and

– the tools available for delivering the educational and training content of your courses to potential students.

NOTE: In the latter part of this audio episode, Lon describes some of the features that sets Camtasia Studio apart from other video tools which do not have built-in feature-rich multi-track editors. However, Lon does a very good job of describing in detail in audio what you would normally see on the screen, so that you can easily visualize and understand what he is explaining. Thus, it is not really necessary for you to view the video.

However, for those who wish to view the entire original 75-minute webinar in detail, there is a replay of the webinar available only for a very short time.

NOTE: you can get more out of the production of what was a free webinar by getting a free account at www.LearnCamtasia.com.

42- Podcaster gives perspective of Podcast Conferences for 2016–and beyond

This end-of-year episode delivers a Podcaster’s perspectives for Podcast Conferences for upcoming 2016 — and beyond.

Podcast conferences 2016ff

The eight main “conferences” or “meetings” for Podcasters (and, to some extent, New Media Professionals) are:

New Media Expo (aka NMX)

Podcast Movement (aka PM)

Consumer Electronics Show (CES)

National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB)

Podfest Florida or Podfest Tampa

LA Podfest

Podcamps

Local Podcast Meetups (via www.meetup.com)

Each of these are mentioned. There is also a backstory to the change of preferences for the value of these conferences, and a hint of some issues that may be haunting some of the more successful shows that delivered value at one time to the podcasting community.

From the large national conferences (like NMX and Podcast Movement), we also deliver some perspectives on the REGIONAL and local podcast conferences, meetups and Podcamps. I myself will deliver my perspectives, since I have been a speaker at the main national conferences, as well as a Podcast Meetup Organizer and a speaker at many Podcamps.

Finally, I apologize to all my listeners, since I had a forced absence due to not only technical problems and a failure and replacement of my main system for podcasting, but also for being caught up with a bed-ridden flu and bronchitis that rendered me unable to deliver any value to you, my audience.

To all of you, I wish you a happy holiday season and a bright next year for your success as a New Media Professional and podcaster.

17- Interview with Paul Colligan – Video, YouTube and Podcasting pundit

This audio episode of PODCAST REPORTER delivers the final installment episode of the mini-series that we have started in mid-year 2015, in which we interview those who were the early podcasters (who started podcasting in 2004 and 2005). In addition, this episode will be repurposed in other podcast shows (e.g., Struggling Entrepreneur, Boomers for Startups and Skills in Screencasts and Podcasts). This is following the method of ISYOT (“I see you out there”) that is mentioned during the interview.

Top among these early podcasters is Paul Colligan — someone who is not only a subject matter expert, but also a published author, public speaker, course-creator and educator, problem-solver, a trusted advisor, a thought leader, a visionary and luminary, as well as a pundit for the New Media space — including podcasting, videocasting (especially YouTube(R)) and other New Media content creation and delivery systems.

Paul has also been a mentor for various podcasters — including myself for the last 9 years.

Paul Colligan - public speaker As you will hear in this audio episode, Paul discusses his entry in 2004-2005 into the Podcasting space and the New Media Environment and his direction in making a business in this arena of content creation and delivery. He has never lost sight of “following your customers and delivering your MESSAGE” (i.e., content) to them in whatever channel or delivery method of consumption that they choose.

As a published author for both Podcasting and YouTube strategies, Paul is now working on his latest book titled–

How to Podcast: Broadcast Your Message in 4 Simple Steps to the World of Smartphones, Connected Cars, Tablets and more — Even if you don’t really know what Podcasting is.

Paul-Colligan-book-for-2015-2014-12-20_13-23-16This book is scheduled for launch in February-March of 2015 and will be a different type of writing than just a lot of technical hardware and software specifications and recommendations (which can become obsolete very quickly). Paul describes the purpose for his book and his unique style and content that it will contain — including some contributions from key podcasters with their stories of how they podcast. Also, Paul discusses the wealth of bonus material that will come with the book (which is worth a great deal, as they are current offerings today that will be available with the book). In addition, pre-orders are being accepted for those interested in getting a copy of it immediately upon availability in whatever format they choose from this link at amazon.com:

Paul also gives his ideas of podcasting in terms of whether it is an industry or just a community or just a vehicle for delivery.

And finally, Paul describes his current 2 podcast shows: The Podcast Report and Thinking Out Loud.

Paul’s information can be found at: http://www.PaulColligan.com

and speaking engagements can be booked at (503) 822-3486.

10- Strategies in video scripting for screencasting- Lon Naylor with Joey Xoto

This content is repurposed audio from an earlier webinar in which Lon Naylor (aka “The Learn Camtasia Guy”) interviews Joey Xoto, the marketer of the iPocket Video training programs.

As you will hear in this audio episode, Joey discusses and describes to Lon Naylor a strategy and workflow for creating videos with good scripts as a basic foundation for creating good screencasts that utilize full-motion video or informative or educational video or “talking-head” video..

JoeyXoto script strategies workflow

Please note that this audio was taken from a webinar video recording — which sometimes may not be as high quality as a direct interview by podcasters.

Also — especially as podcasters — please be advised that a VIDEO file is just one of several media elements that go into the making of a good screencast. Others are PowerPoint(R) or other slide presentation products, as well as full-motion video (which is Joey’s expertise), and screen-capture screencasts (e.g., like those from Camtasia Studio) to demonstrate software, web sites or membership sites, etc. There are also qualities and/or visual properties that can be added to or enhanced by features that improve final screencasts, such as callouts, pans, zooms, and other visual properties.

Finally, there is a hint of a new venture coming in which both Joey and Lon will partner to provide “something new” in the area of screencast productions utilizing video.
